The glorious oakmoss dark, earthy, and mysterious (as it should be) is to me perceptible right from the start, only increasing in depth. A distinctive earthy/herbal character is present throughout the fragrances evolution, along with discreet animalic undertones (civet, castoreum), and powdery nuances.

I like Parfums de Nicolai very much, my favourites are oud scents trio, Patchouli, and Cap Neroli. I just want to have this one because Despina loves it after reform and this is quite rare nowadays. I received this from the 2014 fall sampler bag. It makes for an effortlessly classy, timelessly elegant, self-assured but never cocky, masculine scent but its also spectacular on women. I currently dont know any offering from the house so it waould be awesome to have it. It also haunts the San-Antonio crime novels, whose author, Frdric Dard, was one of the first aficionados.

In her New York Intense, Patricia de Nicola fuses together the cologne, chypre, fougre, oriental and aromatic genre into a seamless composition of extraordinary radiance and admirable balance, infused with a retro touch, a bien-tre aura, and lots of soul. I esp love comparison to older perfumes I love 80s (or earlier) perfumes my fave! When you are first deciding what to sample from the house of Nicolai, it is almost inevitable that New York Intense enters calculations. Despina confirmed why it should be on my list.

Due to the IFRA restrictions on oakmoss and citruses, several fragrance lovers felt that the reformulated New-York EdT had become a tad too faint. Despina also made some good comparison with other fragrance, but still made it clear that this one is unmistakably recognizable, which made it even more special. It opens with spectacularly bright, zesty citruses (lemon, bergamot, petitgrain), combined with herbaceous thyme and absinthe-like artemisia. Great review. I have wanted to sample this perfume since first learning of it, but have not yet had the opportunity. Those of you missing 'power designer scents' from the late 80's early 90's this one is a must sniff. I dont have a favorite Parfums de Nicolai fragrance. Unfortunately, I do not know any scent from this well-known house, but New York Intense would be a good start. The fragrance features bergamot, sicilian lemon, cloves, thyme, cinnamon, black pepper, pimento, oakmoss, vetiver and amber. It might be my favourite de Nicolai scent. I always wondered where the name came from, but now that I found out I think it is a good choice.

I unfortunately have not had the chance to try any fragrances from Parfums de Nicolai, but Ive always been intrigued by the brand and have been itching to sample some of their fragrances. I had a sample of it a few years ago and found it very fascinating and appealing, but a bit too mature/oldschool for me (I was in my mid-twenties). USA. It was great to hear the origin of this legendary fragrance and how it was updated for the modern day. New York is, indeed, my favorite Nicolai scent and Id love to experience the intense version. I have many favourites from Nicola: NYI, Sacrebleu Intense, Le Temps dune Fte, Based on a few samples Ive recently purchased, New York Intense is by far my favorite from the house, with Cuir Cuba Intense being a distant, but still excellent, second. You do have a way with words Ive not yet sampled New York Intense though I was intrigued to learn it had one of the highest scores from Luca Turin in his new book. At any rate a favorite by miles. nicolai arome prodm I love the old version, but havent smelled the intense. Sounds nice to me. New York was one of the first Nicolai scents I tried (thanks to the rave review by Luca Turin) and I remember thinking it was just too strange for me but, like so many complex scents, I have leaned to enjoy it more and more as my tastes change and develop.
