I get wafts of it and it is so comforting in a restrained and stoic way. Each of the flowers dance in perfect harmony, taking turns under the spotlight - quite beautiful and vintage (here's your powder), somewhat melancholic and reminiscent of bygone years.
As others have said, it is initially a sharp, almost realistic green blast of oakmoss and grass and just wonderful. None of the stores where I live carry it, so I blind bought it based on the note listing. The scent opens with a burst of intoxicating green scents that are so fresh and clean. It smells so fresh and green, yet so elegant and not so cliched like a lot of other "crisp" fragrances. My bottle is current a formulation, with Evernia Prunastri (Oakmoss) listed on the back. My mistake. I have a vintage parfum, a kinda vintage EDT, and a brand new EDP. Im still testing it and Ill write more when I have a chance to wear this more. Price is a rip off and Chanel seems to have no commitment to quality these days . | |
It is really one that I can never get over as the scent shifts every single time I put it on. The Parfum, Eau De Toilette, and Eau De Parfum are still in production. This is the only Chanel I have found that I like. It will leave you with a soft, woody scent at the end of the day. Iris has been described by some as smelling like paper cash, and I think that is true in no 19.

Warm and cozy, earthy, flowery, woody and lots of beautiful powdery layers. Give me IRIS AND OAKMOSS! 19, because Im almost certain that everything that can be said or written about it already has been explored at length. Well, I must admit that there are a few perfumes that I would give all others up to have, and this is one of them. ():
toilette refillable Anyway, later in the day I went into a department store and took advantage of the No 19 edp tester and just went to town on myself, squirting with abandon. I'm a makeup artist and I cannot begin to tell you how many ladies I work with that wear Chanel No. This should be a near-perfect scent for me, though Ill say I have a tough time finding a green that stays but doesnt smell like a highly peppered vetiver man. Green, woody, floral perfection. Even if it is definitely a conservative and very polite scent - there is somehow something mother-in-law-like or tea partyish about it - it still somehow manages to be lighthearted and sensual.
Prominent green/grassy opening notes that make me think of a fresh cut flower stems.
toilette refillable chanel 3oz This is really lovely -the smell of a forest after the rain. If things change update us please. I have been wondering what to write and how to review this perfume as it is such a difficult fragrance to put into words. You know more than 10-12 years ago there is no way I could of enjoyed a fragrance like this. If you happen to have Mon Guerlain Florale (now discontinued), spray No.19 EDP on top of it and enjoy. Now, I love that initial green blast and how it acts as a balance to the classic floral notes. The No. 5? Soapy, clean, crisp. I spritz this on my skin and I'm immediately reminded of her hugs. Someone who has a whole host of black suits, limo's, guards surrounding her. This perfume is understated elegance.
But, alas, not the one I am looking for. Firmly rooted in the 1970s, it reminds me of Gloria Steinem in her heyday - feminine and powerful, individual and elegant. With all those glorious spring notes I'd spray it in March or April and find myself regretting its bitterness. It's not offensive, but it's very much a sophisticated lady in a fancy hotel in springtime.

I am heart broken about Chanel 19. I tried no 19 after having used no 19 poudr for a long time. For green and iris lovers its a no brainer, get it in your collection, it was absolutely a safe blind buy. It is a very sharp green scent, very watery/dewy in the opening with a strong "grassy" vibe, and the dry-down on my skin is quite powdery. I now own a classic and I could not be more proud. remember to wait for it. I don't hate it but it's an uncomfortable fragrance if that makes sense. Oh boy, do I just love Chanel! Then it starts to settle into the iris and rose and it turns into a beautiful bouquet of flowers just put into a vase. I'm so glad that I got to know No 19. I got some last stock before it was sold out as early as February-March of 2021 last year when I got word on here this was happening but nothing was certain. Way too soapy. Fresh, green, spring-like, v surprised it hasn't got hyacinths listed as a note because it really reminds me of them, like when you press your nose into the flower & inhale. Here we go. I really wanted to love this, but I ended up liking it. An extraordinary composition. It still gets me every time. Definitely getting old 1979 my boyfriend bought me my first bottle of Chanel 19. It is a unique blend of light-heartedness and sophistication, not simply a different concentration, but an olfactory reinterpretation, which is faithful to the spirit and base notes of the original composition. The opening can be taken as slightly bitter for some, but I get a beautiful green scent mixed with an intoxicating and fresh quality that smells so elegant. Got the 80s formulation as I was disappointed by how emaciated the current one is. And then came the most beautiful and unique blend of aromas. The first, the wet fragrance and its immediate dry-down, is that of a green, woody town in the summertime, like Cape May Point or Vers-Pont-du-Gard. Intensely sharp and dry and green, with the earthy, rootsy powderiness of iris, the acrid verdancy of galbanum, and vetivers leathery grassy woodiness, and that sour metallic tang and bitter effervescence that I always attribute to old costume jewelry; note-wise, Im not sure where that comes from, but it seems to be a hallmark of these classic fragrances. It is certainly the type of perfume that would be appropriate all year round, but I love this perfume in autumn and winter when I think iris smells wonderful. The EDP used to last 8 hours on my skin and on clothes i could still smell it the next day.. Now it barely lasts 3 hours. I feel both calm and sexy wearing this scent: in spite of its cool notes on first spritz, it morphs into something quite spectacular - warm, creamy florals come into play; soothing the zesty herbaceous opening and taming it into a thing of beauty. But no, it was this. It's a shame this gem is so hard to find! I am dying over the opening, but very shortly thereafter, its all iris and powder. Anyway, if you are looking for an iris and not for the greenery, you really should try before you buy. I don't like to wear it, and I don't like to smell it on men around me. Even though we do know she wore some others. The marvel of this scent is its gloomy luminosity, how it's both austere and achingly tender at the same time. The opening is beautiful fresh green, the dry down is very comforting iris powder. It was right in my face in the past few months, didnt even give it a go cause I was so far away from the no 5 I thought whats the point?! ()
the beginning smells like grass, but after that, it smells like flowers that are gorgeous (I won't even try to decipher this, so complex). It does lift my mood as this concentration diffuses so beautifully into the shafts of sunlight. I had my doubts about this fragrance based on reviews I read here and because I'm not a huge fan of No. I have received numerous compliments. I own the EdP, which because of concentration tends to be ionone-forward (read: very powdery). I've found that I really enjoy wearing it on hot days; it has a refreshing but elegant vibe about it. If you judge a perfume by its opening then maybe its not for you. I recommend you to smell the Chanel 19 perfume in the rectangle bottle with the grey cap if you'd like a more masculine version. It's green and soapy (sometimes powdery), with a heart of timid flowers veiled by sharp vetiver and green, resinous galbanum, almost but not quite to the point of being bitter. What I get now is citrusy, fresh opening, then a green and floral heart and finally a soft, powdery-green drydown. But on me/to me, it does not smell like I hoped. As it settles the iris creates a nice subtle powdery fragrance that mixes with the rose and lily for a scent that is sophisticated and elegant. ()
It works with any weather and any clothes. Top notes are Green Notes, Bergamot and Neroli; middle notes are iris, Rose, Narcissus, Lily-of-the-Valley and Ylang-Ylang; base notes are oak moss, Vetiver, Leather and Sandalwood. I need time to know how I feel about a fragrance. 852-21108642 I will keep what i have, out of misguided loyalty to Chanel, but i will not purchase again. E-mail
Reviewing a 2018 batch. On me however, it's pure rosewater.

I am the owner of quite literally hundreds of bottles of perfume. I think a guy can wear this no problem. I hope Chanel will keep it forever and not alter it. To me, this is 100% feminine, its not unisex, but this is a grown up, no bs sort of woman who knows herself, yet she's very elegant and her energy will most definitely arouse and capture you. But then I have to remind myself that I dont have to be an expert or a guru or ensconced in academia or have years of scholarship under my belt in order to share my thoughts on something so profoundly subjective as fragrance. You can wear it everywhere and with any clothes. I have a new batch and have no idea how this used to smell and perform originally. Or maybe I don't "get" it, who knows. Something went wrong. Very pretty scent with almost no sillage or longevity . Also, wondering how powdery it is exactly? This won't be for everyone but those who are looking for something that is different from most perfumes on the market should check this out. Green but warm. Perfumes: 73,887 Maybe Covid has interfered with production but Chanel are working on making it available. ():
Like a luxurious fancy hotel soap, but still a soap. I love the edt for its sharpness, but this is more voloptuous, somewhat warmer. I'm still pondering if I prefer this or the Poudr version, but I can say that this is just a perfect office scent. This is definitely an acquired taste, but with time, I began to really enjoy the scent composition of this perfume. It's powdery - I've come to realize my skin really amplifies any powder note, so maybe that's why. This is my all time favourite, signature scent, it was love at first sniff and has been ever since (a very rare occurrence with me and perfume as I am usually fairly fickle). This is so beautiful! I absolutely love this pefume. I love how this perfume dries down. I can't find any online stockist in the UK where it is available. I have read many words of praise for this classic perfume but it somehow renders them futile, such is its perfection and beauty. 19 is for me a well-crafted, high quality let-down. On the right skin, however, this is a very fresh and elegant woody floral. The bottle may be a light, fresh green colours, but the actual perfume smells like what I imagine dark green would smell like. Not at midday when the sun is pelting down mind you, but the very early hours of a spring going into summers morning. Marissa Zappas Announces A New Collection + A Giveaway!
Anyway, that is how I envision this fragrance. I'm half an hour into a single spray of this, and am so in love I had to note down some initial thoughts. 5. While this is not a playful or frilly fragrance, the behavior of the actual perfume billows. Some scents seem like a spot on reflection of a part of your personnality. It has been my favourite for over 25 years. SO misunderstood. This is a boss scent. So.. the first spray is more then horrible! I discovered it at a rather early age and I found it refreshing from the beginning. I had always been reluctant on No19 as I had always stuck with the safe choice, No5. lasts 2&1/2 hours for me. This is an exquisite fragrance, the EDP is so smooth and velvety, it is superior to the EDT, which is still nice. I have EDP and it is pefect balance of notes and harmony in a bottle. The fragrance has a vintage feel to it, but it is not really dated more of an exciting and very unusual fargarnce in today's trends. The very green & sharp galbanum opening is so welcome in the heat but it changes thankfully into the most sublime rose, powdery Iris & narcissus brew, made sweeter by neroli. What can I say about this beauty. I love the opening, I get lots of oakmoss and green notes. Earthy, green, no sweetness. I have a mini of both this and the EDT. I think I'll test it again soon and see if I can get this version to grow on me. It is very fluffy, rounded, powdery smooth. You are a lady, at least in the daylight, if you catch my drift. I got Chanel No 19 Poudre first before No 19 because I knew I wasn't ready for it and I wasn't. I think I will try Coco soon.

The vintages have a staleness that I just cannot get over. The second, as the fragrance is settled and warm on the skin, is that of a rainy day outside; much more subdued and cozy, but still very green. The is so perfect, I think I might dare I really like this over No 5. I put it on this morning, thinking I wanted something to give me a bit of confidance and power but it just smells wrong.

It misses the sweetness and softness and is mostly harsh. It is crisp and clean. This is a tale of pure, unadulterated plant life splendid but fragile, and often fleeting. Although I have had No 5, Coco, Mademoiselle, Noir and Christalle, Chance, Eau Tendre and Allure over the years and loved them dearly, No 19 still remains my favourite. I don't get any of the green, or maybe I just have no idea what green notes should smell like, but I wouldn't imagine this.
wehkamp It reminds me of a very expensive cream that my mother used. Then it dries down to the most beautiful, floral-green scent I've ever smelled.

I think it has to do with the weather change and also the body lotion I put on last night.
